The Shiraz block is the largest block in our vineyard and whilst our family have been growing grapes here for only a few years the vineyard has been here for 50 years. As well as raising sheep we have spent our time re-establishing the vineyard. The emphasis is on producing Shiraz grapes of super premium quality grapes for ourselves and other winemakers (around 50% of our production is sold to other Heathcote wine makers) whilst the balance the best fruit is retained for sale under our own label. All our grapes are hand pick and treated gently.
Tasting Note:
An intense Ruby red colour with an equally deep dark red black hue. Wafting from the glass are majestic aromatics of blackberry, liquorice and dark chocolate with hints of dried herbs, vanillin and spicy black olives. Rich and luxurious in its feel the palate is flooded with textured blackberry, dark plum, liquorice and dark chocolate fruits which overlay a back drop of blueberry, vanillin and spicy mocha. Powerful and deep with silky smooth tannins leading to a long plush finish and after taste.
