The fruit for this Cabernet Shiraz is sourced from a very specific block in our vineyard which is one of our best kept secrets. This block is a three acre block of mixed vines some Shiraz and some Cabernet. The family who planted these vines specialised in making grappa hence the mix of vines. The interesting outcome is that each vintage is slightly different than the previous ones as the vines react differently each year. The block is pick as a whole and fermented together producing a truly original Cabernet Shiraz.
Tasting Note:
A midnight black core and a deep dark red hue with blackcurrant blackberry and mulberry aromatics are supported by a hint of cedar and tobacco characters, dried herbs, black olives and hints of bay leaf.
Rich dark fruits and liquorice cast a silky feel across the medium bodied palate with mulberry, tobacco, cedar, black olives and spicy dried herbs the back drop. Beautifully polished with seamlessly integrated tannins with a powerful finish picking up a degree of elegance as it lingers long after the wine has been consumed.
Drink over the next 3-6 years (2020-2026).
